My Press report!!!
ASA Masters Swimming Championships, Ponds Forge International Sports Centre, Sheffield – 23rd to 25th September 2009
3 days of competition and 8 gruelling events consisting of an aggregate 100 competitive lengths of the pool saw Steve Eggleton from Madeley record 4 personal best times and gain 4 top 10 positions and a relay silver medal in the National Masters swimming championships in Sheffield last weekend.
Personal best times in the 100 and 200m Individual Medleys and 100 Breaststroke were only surpassed by an extraordinary swim in the 800 metres freestyle. Wearing one of the controversial “fastskin” body suits for the first and probably last time, as they are banned from the 2010 season, he knocked over 32 seconds off his previous best time for the event finishing in a very creditable 8th position in the 45-49 year old category in a time of 10m 21.75.
49 year old Steve competing at the top end of the age group also managed top 10 finishes in the 200 & 400 IM as well as the 400 freestyle and also helped his club Camp Hill Edwardians to a Silver medal in the Men’s 200+ combined age 4x50m freestyle relay.
What Got printed in the Shropshire Star!!
