British Masters - Sheffield October 2015

A message from Kate Chase (Mrs Relays!)

Hi all

A huge thank you to all you fabulous Camp Hill Edwardians - both swimmers and supporters, over the weekend in Sheffield.
Hope you had a trouble free journey home and that your bodies are starting to recover.
 
I was really quite overwhelmed on Saturday when you presented me with the stunning  flowers and bath tub gin as a 'thank you' for pulling and pushing (!) you all together in the teams. Thank you for just getting stuck in to each relay, we did not have to scratch any teams this year - good on yer.

For many it was a pretty challenging programme with a big range of individual events to tackle along with several relays - some distances being outside your normal comfort zone.

It was a tricky exercise this year to pull together our teams. With a reduced number of swimmers being available  and the fact that the age combinations meant we were swimming against much younger teams in our 72+ and 200+ age groups led to  a reduction in the number of teams we entered  & reduced medal success - sorry we did not have a relay swim for everyone this year.

Congrats to our 200yrs +  Men's 4 x 100 Medley team for their Gold and to our one 240+ team that was just pipped to a silver in the Mixed 4 x 50 Medley relay.

Watching and chatting to you all i think everyone was able to take away something positive with them from the meet; hope it has given you a boost for the coming twelve months and re-ignited your belief in how fast you can and could swim.

Here's to the Europeans in May 2016.

A message from Anne Bourne:

Thank you, to all members of Camp Hill Edwardians and Camp Hill Swimming Club, who made my 60^th Birthday party so special and contributed to the book of memories, a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a Voucher to redeem in Touchwood, Solihull.

I was completely taken aback by the efforts everyone had made to get to Akrams, from far and near, to join me in my birthday celebrations and even, for some, to get a training session in first!

The numerous cards, flowers, presents and messages of support, visits and telephone calls, make me more determined to join you back in the pool, as soon as I have permission to swim and drive again.

Surrounded by such happy memories of a wonderful day, I am tremendously appreciative of your kindness and support over the past few months.

Wednesday Training Session: 7:30 - 9pm HELP! We need more masters and senior swimmers past/present/future to help make this session more commercially viable. There is lots of water space for you to either do the session set or your own thing. So come on down, have a swim for £3 (less than a pint!), get fit...and then may be go for a beer afterwards!

2013 National Masters at Sheffield

Last year we entered just 8 relays. This year with 25 swimmers we were able to swim 20 relays producing 11 Golds, 3 Silvers and 1 Bronze for 'Camp Hill GT' ...... with 2 European records and 1 British Record.

19 Golds, 15 Silvers and 7 Bronze individual medals were won; many congratulations to Hayley on her two European Records in the 50 Fly and 50 Free; and to Steve Nash for his British Record in the 200 Fly.
